how often should i change the fuel filter on an 04 lly and will this improve performance or fuel economy. are there any difference between brands??? thanks

I used to work at a dealership in Alberta and got to change fuel filters way too often. Big questions that you have, only to be followed by other questions.....What type of fuel are you using? Is it farm fuel??? If so you need to change the filter more often as it will get clogged due to the dyes. This will have a large effect of both performance and economy as everything is working much harder.

 

That being said, if you change the filter every 25,000 km's (about 15,000 miles) or once every 3 oil changes you will not have any problems. Mind you it also depends on what you are using the vehicle for.

 

And yes there are differences in brands of filters. Some are worth the extra money, all depends on what you are willing to spend...and where you buy them.

Fuel economy should be there because with that only we can find a good profit with out truck business.

It can affect power because if it doesn't get changed in awhile, the engine may not rev up past 2000 rpms and act weird. I usually change mine before 15,000. Usually 10,000 but I also have an LB7, and need good fuel.
