Power Window Swap Help.

Hello all.

Nice forum you all have here. Im hoping someone can give me some help with a problem Im having.

I have an 07 NBS extended cab Chevy Silverado 1500. WT trim with the WT convenience package (CD radio and power locks). What I am trying to do is convert the manual windows to factory electric. Mirrors will come later.

I have managed to get two full doors from a donor vehicle with trim, regulators, and switches. Sadly the mirrors were trashed (roll over). The skins themselves are also unusable but It was that special order powder blue you never see so no loss there :). The donor vehicle was a WT regular cab with power windows and power mirrors (just power adjust, no fold, heat, signal).

Well today I got around to pulling the parts from the donor doors and before fully dismantling my doors I plugged the donor harness, switchs, and regulator into the correct spot in the fuse panel with no response from the regulator. From what I have read, the donor truck shouldnt have had databus door modules. The switches should be hard wired. Is there something I am missing here?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Well a small update. Looks like the fuse box the door harness plugs into isnt wired for the power windows. A quick trip to the donor vehicle fixed that (30 seconds to pull it out). From what I can tell, the harness behind this is the same on both. Guess I will find out soon. Oh also The donor may have been a debadged LS but he had changed the wheels too and had some paint work done (shaved the lidgate handle to the inside) so the front bumper may have been painted body color then. Guess I could check the RPO code tag next time Im by there :P.

Wish me luck.

Dang I hate good news/bad news situations. I was working on getting a reprogram at a dealership incase I needed it for the door modules. That came through with flying colors for free.......The bad news is that the harnesses are different. Id have to mine the whole thing out across the inside of the dash to keep it "factory". Not sure that is an option.

Hmmm still trying to figure out how to get past this roadblock....

Years ago most vehicles had the full harness installed even if the option was not. It was cheaper to make one for all of the same vehicle.

But not any more.

Some bean-counter must have gotten in there because now the harness is customized by the ordering options list.

I have an 09 GMC Sierra WT-It came from the factory with only cruise control. After all the upgrades, I now have

factory touch screen navigation.

Power Windows

Power door locks

Steering wheel controls for stereo

Power heated mirrows with power fold, signals and rear vision assist.

Purchased the factory remote start upgrade, it works great.

In order to achieve all of the above options I purchased all the following.

New power window regulators

New power lock actuators

Used steering wheel from ebay

Used nav system including antenna and 7.3 nac disc

New door panels

New DDM and PDM

New door harnesses

New Dash harness

New Harness from drivers door to passenger door that runs under the seats.

Used heater control in order to get the heated mirrors

Used Yukon mirrows from ebay

After all the above was installed, a trip to the dealer and all was programmed, everything works great.

So if you have a 07-09 GM WT, it is possible to have all the options you want.

You will need a VIN from a vehicle that had all the above options, I got my Clone VIN from a yukon that was wrecked.
