Passenger A/c Blowing Hot

have a 2004 Escalade AWD automatic climate control, hot air blowing on passenger side most of the time, driver side and rear ac is normal.

I need to replace the actuator on the passenger side. Does anyone have a picture, diagram or description of where the actuator is located? i've heard contradicting views between having to remove the dash and not having too.

any help, write ups or advice is greatly appreciated....

The actuator is located above the transmission hump near the passenger footwell. you only have to remove the fan duct work cover above the passenger foot area. The drivers side actuator is when you have to remove the dash. Are you sure the actuator is bad? There is a TSB for over travel causing it to stick, a reflash would fix it. I replaced my actuator and it still doesn't work, even had the dealer reflash afterwards to recalibrate but once I disconnected the battery it never worked right.

The left actuator is on the 1st page, the right one is on the 2nd page. The left or drivers side is the easy one. The right or passenger side requires removing the dash.

You can get them from http://www.gmpartsdirect.com

The actuators part #s are all the same.

This thread on recalibration may help. I have done this successfully only it takes around 10 cycles. Thats starting, driving, shutting down, leaving vehicle 10 times.

And look at the money you saved. A guy on fullsizechevy paid $1350 to have the two replaced because he changed the battery and they got out of calibration. Now thats a major screwing. He won't need to have sex for a long time.

Hey guys - I have had a consistent noise from what I assume to be the blend door for years. Read about the calibration last night and decided to give it a try. Truck is an 03 SS with manual controls. Also, the blower started 'surging' where it would blow hard, then soft, then hard then soft, all of the time it was on yesterday.

First, I disconnected the battery for 10 mins or whatever, got in, key on for 1 min without touching anything, start car, let idle for 5 mins, drive.

When I did this, I lost control of the AC/Heat, and now everything blows through the dash defrost vents.

I then pulled both HVAC fuses (one under the hood and one in the cab), let it sit for 1/2 hour or so, then put them back in, ran the truck, and nothing.

Should I just keep trying, or is there something else I can do?

Pulling the fuses takes the place of disconnecting the battery. After it sets for 1/2 hour or so get in close door, start engine, let run for 5 min, do not touch any thing. shut off open and close door for complete cycle, wait min or so start again let run for a min or so, this should recalibrate the actuators....although it took about 10 cycles for mine to come around. I just ran a bunch of errands around town and on the way home the vents started blowing cool air. has been fine ever since.

Mine was ticking as well, that also went away.

Cool - Ill just keep driving it and see what happens. Every time I do drive it it seems to cycle through and does blow through the normal vents for a few seconds. Like a big cool tease in the 110* phoenix heat
