Dual Battery Setup

I have a 2007 nbs, 6.0, 6 spd auto. It has the higher output alternator also. When plowing in the extreme cold

(-20 deg ) last year, my Boss snowplow was taxing the battery pretty badly. Im going to check with Boss to see if I can run the aircraft hyd oil in the plow as I did with my Western plows to help the fluids run easier in the extreme cold. There is an extra battery mount on the drivers side in the front of the engine compartment. What would it take to add a battery there? How would I wire them properly?

Any ideas on ways to set them up would be awesome!

if you have the boss oem oil it is the good mil spec oil 5606,on the battery's just run a cable positive to positive negitave to negitive ,use 1 gauge battery cable or welding cable would be better ,it handel more amps.use dielectric grease on all cable connection's.go with two matching gell filled batterys .i had to put the battery tray in my 2001 hd 6.0.

I have the same truck as you. Mine has all that stuff plus skidplate,because I got the snowplow prep. package,it was a 410.00 option. If you could get an itemization of the prep/ package from GM,maybe you could get the parts you need. It's possible both batteries have different functions , I'll have to check mine to see where the battery cables go. plowking

Where did you put the tray on your 01? Upper passenger side corner? I wanted to do an extra battery, but that area where the second battery is to go is being occupied by my big Western module. Though about do an inclosed battery box or something and mounting it in the bed near tool box, then running cables to first battery. But then that would mean drilling a larger hole thorugh bed to feed cables through. There really isn't any other place for that Western module and it is pretty big! Compared to older plows (last generation and beyond).

the spare tray on the 01 went on the passebger side rear near the fire wall ,you replaced the brace with the tray .

Thats what I thought. Thats where my Western plow module is, and it is quite large.

Thanks for the info! Im not in need of a battery yet, so can I use a matching gattery to the one I have? Im not familiar with gel filled batteries.

gel filled batterys are a lot better as they do not leak and they hold up better under vibration o'reiley and optima and a few other's sell them but i find the optima a bit pricy and the warrenty is not as good as o'reileys .they are top and side post at tghe same time .
