Gmpp Exhaust Muffler

Does anyone know what brand and model number muffler would be the same as what comes in the GMPP exhaust performance and touring cat-back kits? I've heard that they are a Borla muffler...can a guy just find the muffler and put it in a custom system to get the same sound for less? Just curious.

The GMPP exhausts are made by Corsa. Pretty penny either way your go. Take a look at the Gibson ones, they do not drone like most in cyl. cut out mode.

Not necessarily. At one point they were made by Corsa but then they switched to Borla. I have one on my 03 Silverado with the Borla logo on the directions and muffler.

Some time around 2005 GM switched to Borla for their performance exhaust systems. Why, word is Corsa refused to put GM logos on the mufflers.

 

Refference: I spoke with engineers from both Corsa and Borla on this. Also have had both systems and the gm exhaust did indead have borlas name and phone # on the directions.

 

I have Corsa and it is in my opinion far better than the GM exhaust.

Not sure why everyone is so big on the Corsa exhaust...I have yet to find a sound clip of Corsa exhaust that is not loud with tons of drone...maybe it's just me?

Its must be you. Mine has zero drone in the cab. You got to hear them in person. Corsa will be louder out side and very quite in the cab. I also have a touring muffler.

 

Corsa also comes with 3' tubing. The GMPP at least for the GMT 800 comes with 2 7/8 dia tubing, the same as stock. That is for the single side exit exhaust.

You have a sound clip of yours? Every Corsa 5.3L I've listened to on Youtube is very loud. Haven't found a nice "mellow rumble" from a Corsa yet (?)
