What Turns This Light On?

Last week I noticed these headlights not working, so I replaced the bulbs and still nothing.

 

 

I think I have flipped every switch in the truck and can't seem to get them to come on. They are not the daytime running lights and not the parking lights. My truck does not have fog lights if that helps. Any ideas??

Are you sure they aren't daytime running lights? That is the exact location of the DTRL on my 03 Silverado. They come on upon shifting the truck into gear, or I believe they can be shut off from the headlight switch on the dash. Sounds like you have tried this already though. If I think of something else, I will let you know.

The light that is circled is the DRL on the truck. That is controlled by the ambient light sensor that is on the dash near the base of the windshield.

In order that they turn on, the following conditions must be met:

 

1) Daytime outside

2) Ambient light sensor must be in view of sun

3) Vehicle must be in gear

4) Parking brake must be fully released (applicable to some vehicles)

5) Fuse for DRL must not be broken

+1 those are the DRLs. Do the headlights come on automatically like they should when it's dark? If so, I'd look into the fuse first. I've got headlights all the time and no DRLs, it's because the ambient light sensor has failed. It'll be replaced this week.

Yes....the headlights are on all the time but the interior lights come on when it gets dark. I went to check the ambient light sensor and it looks like it has fallen down inside the dash. How in the world do you get to it? Would this cause the headlights to say on all the time?

+1 There's your answer. Once you get it pulled up and out where it should be, test it for proper operation before you put everything back together.
