I'm about to purchase a 2002 GMC 1500, with the 4.8, that is out of state, and wanted to change the oil before I begin the drive home.

1. What size wrench do I need to take for the oil drain plug?

2. What weight of oil?

3. How many quarts?

4. Which filter/number?

Also, how do I go about getting a build sheet (window sticker)?

Boring post, I know..... but would really appreciate the info from the guys in the know!!!

Should be a 15mm Wrench.

The fill cap should tell you what weight to use. Most likely 5w30

And autozone can get you the right filter. Even look in the book walmart has

Bring six quarts and check the level after you put 5 in it.

The dealer should be able to get you a build sheet if bring them your VIN.

I don't have a 2002 4.8, but being the same family of engine as my 6.0 L (both 99 and 08), I'd guess the drain plug is the same. 15 mm .

My 2000 Helms factory manual shows the 4.8 as holding 6 quarts, same as the 6.0 and 5.3. Use 10-30w

The filter is a Delco PF 46, K&N HP 2006, Fram PH 3675
