Change Oil Reminder

My change oil indicator light keeps coming on in my new to me 01 2500hd with the 8.1. The thing is, I changed the oil maybe 5 months ago with Mobil 1. I only drive the vehicle when towing my boat, which is usually 140 miles round trip no more than three or four times per month. Is there a reset mechanism when changing the oil? Does the computer sniff out a reason for this code? Anyone have the answer?

ignition on, engine off, push gas pedal all the way down and let all the way up 3 or 4 times will reset it.

If you change it before the truck tells you to, you have to reset the oil life monitor. With the ignition on, engine off, fully pump the gas pedal 3 times within 5 seconds. Should say "Oil Life Reset"
