Locking Rear Differential

Hello,

 

I discovered that when putting the truck on reverse, the rear wheels turn... I thought it was the front wheels that were controlling the car and not the rear ones... Now I'm confused and would like to know if Locking Rear Differential has something to do with it. I'm on 2HI and when I put on the Reverse gear, the rear wheel turn... Is it supposed to be like that?

 

sorry for the newbie question but in my mind, when I'm on 2HI, only the 2 front wheels work or maybe not? Maybe it is the rear wheels that work?

No these trucks are rear wheel drive all the time unless you are in 4 wheel drive. That is the only time the front have power to them.

 

Now if you are talking All wheel drive, (which you only have if it's a Denali) its a totally different animal.

in 2 wheel only the rear is active. Locking rear diff has to do with both wheels on the rear axle.
