If you don't use OnStar, you don't have to get the system that supports if from what I've read.

Awesome.... Can anyone verify this????

I assume that onestar Kit doesn't allow you to use your Stock steering wheel controls for the volume and changing of tracks does it?

if so, then it would be worth the extra cost to me.

thanks again!!

I would be interested to know how the non onstar unit works. As far as I know you have to have something to control all the sounds in your truck. If your radio goes bad you loose your door chimes turn signal sounds seat belt sounds basically anything that dings at you is gone. But if you dont care about that I would be intrested to here how this works out if you have any other problems or if you just loose all the sounds and onstar. On your other question about the steering wheel controls your aftermarket radio has to be able to use the steering wheel and then you just have to get a peripheral wiring harness that's for your make of cd player and for your truck.

I assumed I would have to get another unit and plug in like i did when I had my tacoma to make them work. Not hard to do but, I was just hoping that the Onstar connection would Do EVERYTHING all in one!!!

I don't know If i Care about teh Sounds of the truck? I can see my guages and such I don't need an Idiot bell telling me My Passengers seatbelt is ajar etc. ( it shows right in the DIC)

What Chimes would I lose??? I don't know If i have ever heard them to begin with other than the passenger seat belt when my eife has to climb in the back seat to get something for our daugther.

Ok guys I talked to my installer and he said I can do the basic kit but I need a beep module. (only save me about $40) so i might keep the onstar one just so it is still there incase I ever want it.
