Ryobi Orbital Buffer

As I was cruising the isles of HD I saw two Ryobi orbital buffers, 10" and 6", $30 and $25!!

Any of y'all use these?

I'm casually shopping this tool now, and trying to avoid the $100 units if possible.

If it's what I think it is.. I have one... and have had no issues with it for about 6-7 years now. Its really no different than any standard 10" orbital buffer. It works just fine. If you need something for detailing, I'd much sooner have a porter cable polisher. Big difference between the 2. For quick jobs, the orbital buffer helps that the work out of it and does a nice job.

 

I use the orbital buffer several times a season... and the borrow my friends porter cable polisher once a year

One question I have is will it accept aftermarket/ easily attainable bonnet or pads?

Steven- what does the PC do that the other can not?

The PC has a higher speed for removing more imperfections. All i know is they work really nice especially for darker colors just because you can see more of the fine scratches.

you know what i got that worked well for me since 1998 now. I bought one of those ryobi random orbit sanders, (i know for sanding) but if you put a velcro hook and loop set up on it, then a foam pad to apply the wax with. This cuts down on way time about 40%.

 

The great thing about this is that this will apply way in ways your hand cannot. Also helps prevent swill marks left over by buffers or harsh wax additives. Of course use this as your final step....before you take the polisher to it.

 

Remember on dark colors especialy blacks,drk blue..ect if you start with a machine....end with a machine.

Thats a good machine, i had the ryobi and used it for years with good results........untill i got my porter cable machine. Now i see the differents.
