Nitto Tires ?question

Too all,

I have read that the Nittos are slightly smaller then advertised. Is there any truth to this? Another-words a 285/70-17 would be smaller then the standard 32.8 for that size...

Correct me if a I am wrong...

I considering 305/50-20 (NITTO) for my Sierra. The Sierra has a 2.5 leveling kit.

Any suggestions?

Lastly, I spoke with some guy's here that roll on 305/50-20 with a leveling kit. Some say they will rub and others say they are very close or they said they wont fit.

What's the deal?

305/50/20's aren't much taller than stock (they're wider) and should fit fine with a leveling kit as long as you dont have any crazy offset or 10" wide wheels.

305/55/20s are where you'd have trouble with rubbing on only a leveling kit.

what wheels are you planning on using?

I have the 20" inch stockers .... I found 4 nittos grapplers for a great price on ebay..thoughts?

you shouldn't have any trouble fitting any 305/50/20 on stock wheels with a leveling kit. I say go for it.

Matt, thank you for your help!

I would actually disagree on the fitament with the stock wheels, as the backspacing and offset will be the issue. I am pretty sure you will have some rubbing due to the inset as well as the width of the wheels.

Right, but you don't have stock wheels. I have 305/50/20s on my Tahoe but my offset/backspacing allows for them to fit.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, BUT... I have always been led to believe that stock wheels allow you to fit a larger tire than aftermarket wheels. Regardless, a lot of people on this forum and other forums run a 33x12.5 on NNBS trucks with just a 2" - 2.5" leveling kit and minor trimming in SOME cases (not all cases). Please, someone let me know if I am missing something, as I am about to go with a set of 295/55R20 or 305/55R20 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T's on stock 20's.

The truck sits in the garage and is there when I decide to not drive my little car to work. I would do a 3" lift and 305's, however, if my car gives out im not going to get boned on gas at a 55 mile drive to work.

So with that said, I will just go with 275/60-20 on stock wheels and a leveling kit instead of the 305's....what do you think?
