Service Air Bag Light

So the story goes, a while back I had an airbag light come on while out camping, I've never taken off the steering wheel or anything like that. I can't even really think of the exact moment it came on, all I can think of is that while following a buddy of mine I saw some of his cargo about to come unstrapped, I honked at him a few times to get his attention, we pulled over, re secured and were on our way. Sometime after that I noticed the airbag light had come on.

Shortly after my trip I recieved my cable to record the data for my BlackBear custom tune, I was excitied and asked Justin if the light would screw up the tune, he said no so I went ahead and logged some driving and emailed him the files. Now inbetween getting the tuned ECM/TCM I never made in to the dealer to have the light checked out, I've now had the tune installed for a month or so but I still have the light..

Now my question is, with about 25k on my truck I want to take it in and hopefully get this airbag thing looked at under warranty but will the tuned ECM's be a problem? I know from my experience that warranty claims cannot be denied without being able to prove that something I've done has caused the problem in question in one way or another. I'm wondering if they do find that my ECM is not stock they may not want to cover this problem under warranty, but I'm not sure how or if the systems of the ECM are connected with the airbag circuit.

What do you guys think?

You didn't purchase a spare set of modules? Chances of them detecting the tune are slim because they have no reason to look into it. They might notice it if they drive it. :D

I do have the original models, my questions is, will the truck run with the originals? Do I have to re-do the crank relearn procedure? If so I would have to get the cable back for Justin to do this process.

The smart thing would be to ask i dont know Justin  who did the tune!

Yes it will run fine. No crank re-learn required. Just swap them out. That's the great thing about the extra set. You can change them easily. If you need to have a re-tune, put in the originals, then send off the tuned ones to be tweaked.

+1. I asked Justin this exact question this weekend. Swap them as much as you want was my impression. No re-learns needed.

Once you do all the learns on the computers for your vehicle, you don't have to do them again. I had to send my tuned computers to him for a week and I swapped in the stock computers with no issues.

Well, no issues other than having to run that lousy GM tune.
