Installing A Backup Camera

I am installing a backup camera in my 2009 Sierra. My only requirement is that it needs to look original. I have considered many options from installing a factory NAV unit to using one of the Gentex kits (50-GENK356A or 50-GENK356B). The factory NAV unit is out of my price range, and the Gentex kit seemed a little too high.

Another option, the factor rear view mirror kit, at $999 is too much as well. Also, GM says I cannot install this anyways since I don’t have the comfort and convenience option (RPO code YE9).

So, I started looking at the electrical manuals from gpupfitter, and think that I have figured out why I need RPO code YE9. GM seems to have only run pins 8, 11, 12, 13, and 14 to the back of the mirror. These are all for the onstar functionality. I believe RPO code YE9 adds the power and reverse wires to the mirror (among a couple others) for the auto dimming functionality.

So, I order a used LCD mirror (GNTK-657) from eBay. This is the same mirror that comes in the $999 factor rear view mirror kit. From looking at the electrical manuals, I need to connect:

-Pin 6 - Camera+ (before 2009 this wire was used for temperature probe) - Connect to camera

-Pin 7 - Camera- (before 2009 this wire was used for temperature probe) - Connect to camera

-Pin 9 - Activate camera (this is also used to inhibit auto dim) - Connect to MBEC X10, Pin 8

-Pin 13- +12v switched power - Connect to MBEC X9, Pin 1

Can I order the proper Delphi terminals, and add these connections to the existing harnesses?

What kind of Delphi terminals do I need? The best I can tell, I need 4 Delphi GT 150 series unsealed (0.35-0.5 mm2/22 gauge) terminals for the mirror and 2 Delphi GT 280 series unsealed (0.35-0.5 mm2/22 gauge) for the MBEC connections. I think these Delphi part numbers are 12191811 and 15304710.

Can anyone suggest a good affordable camera? I believe I am supposed to get a wide angle CCD camera.

Can I splice pin 6 and pi7 to a composite cable? If so, would pin 7 be connected to the shield or the core of the composite cable?

Thanks anyone for any help.
