New Member Needs Advice Before Buyinh!

Hi all, I've got a 1996 S10 Blazer, its in pretty good shape and I've got a offer to get a 1995 Silverado extended cab stepside z71 in trade. I've been trying to sell the blazer for 5 months now and no body wants to offer me anything for it. They guy wants to do a straight trade. The Silverado has higher miles and a good amount of rust. But it's the truck I want, might change the bed later. The Silverado has 280,000 miles and needs rockers and cab corners. Interior is Spotless. Has the 350 and its a auto, 4x4 works great. My blazer has 240,000 miles on the body and 190,000 on the engine. Body is in pretty good shape, hit a deer a few years back and has been repaired. No rust on the body what so ever. I started putting truck bed liner on the rockers to cover up the paint chipping going on. It does have a vibration in the front end that I can't get rid of at 65 mph. Will need a catalytic converter soon. I'm just wondering if It's a decent trade. I'm looking for a truck that I can fix up and make my own. Here are some pics.

Hi just my opinion BUT I wouldn't do it. The 95 chevrolet isn't a Vortec engine like your 96 blazer. The 95 will have the old throttle body injection versus the sequential port or multi-port which is alot better technology. The 95 doesn't have OBD II an might be anemic on power compared to a 96 or later vehicle. The rockers in the extended cab were a common issue in 90-95 trucks but they fixed it later on.

I agree with mike. I would keep the blazer. And look for something else.

I agree with the others. Your blazer is in good shape compared to that truck. Be patient, and you will find the right truck.

I don't even have to look very hard at the pictures to know that Silverado is going to be a nightmare for you. There looks to be a LOT of deep rot in some areas that are difficult, if not near impossible to fix properly without some serious body part replacement and fabrication work.

Keep your Blazer until you find something better. If you can afford to repair that spent, rotted-out Z-71 then you can afford a better truck. You should also evaluate how much you need 4WD if tight on money.
