Thanks to this forum, a GM newbie (ex-Ford 150 for 31yrs) now has the blower speeds working. I searched and found the pictorial how to through here linked to another website.

Cost was $62.95 CDN for my 2000 Silverado Z71 ext cab 1500/ 5.3 4x4.

Very nice truck with 235,724kms on it, or for my American paternal side- 146,472 miles serviced by the one owner's mechanic after the GM warranty.

very well taken care of, just switched over the oil to castrol syntech 5w-30 with a Fram filter. while draining the oil I found the output shaft yoke universal leading to the front axle extreemly loose. up and down as well as rotational slop/play. I will have to look further and get some time to order the parts.

This is my first GM product, as well as 4 wheel drive.

thanks to this forum probably 80 bucks was saved for labor.

Regards

Marv

PS- for trouble shooting purposes, Heater fan would only work on 4 & 5 now works on all speeds!

Sounds like the U-joints may be on their way out. Shouldn't cost you more than $30 and an hour of work if you've never done U-joints before.

Hi, I've replaced the blower motor resistor once and smoke came out from under the dash and it quit, i wasn't sure if it was the resistor or something else that smoked, so i got a new (BMR) blower motor resistor and i've replaced it again and it worked within a mile or so then i could smell it burning again and shut it off. I'm not sure if i need to replace the 7 pin wiring harness, and don't want to start throwing parts at it,,, what should I do next?
