Infinity 60.5cs

Hello I just got some Infinity Kappa 60.5cs componet speakers for my 2000 silverado.  I was wondering if anyone can tell me how to wire them.  The factory componets don't have a crossover but the new ones do. On the  new crossovers input do I take both sets of wires to it (meaning the set from the factory tweeter and the set from factory sub) then of course the outputs are easy.

Thanks Big Bert

You only need to connect one set of wires to the crossover.  It wont  hurt anything to connect both, but it is unneccessary.  I would use the lower connection to allow more clearance for the x-over from the window mechanism.

If you look at the speaker, there is an A on one side of the connector, and a B on the other.  The wire that is connected to the A side of the connector is the positive lead.  The wire that is connected to the B side of the connector is the negative lead.

Thanks Thats exactly what I needed to know.  I ended up putting both leads to the input just because I could And you said I could.

                    Thanks again Big Bert

I dont think the A and B sides are always like that.

I know for my rears it wasnt.

What i did, was just look at the connections on the Head Unit that i installed to determine which was which.

And yes, both wires (factory tweet and woofer) come from the same connection behind that side panel at your feet.

To make it easy, i located the Xover under the dash, and cut both wires comint out of the main plug and used them to run the tweet and woofer.  Then i cut the main wire coming from the head unit (at the plug) and used that as my main input on the xover.  Really helped out alot and i didnt have to run any xtra wires anywhere.

Of course when i get my amp, ill have to replace all wires with better gauge stuff.

Thanks for all. When it comes to audio I'm not very good at it. The infinities sound great. I think my next step will be the back speakers with the infiniti 4x6 plates. I,m told that I will need an amp to power all of these speakers. Where can i find room for one? I have a 2000 silverado LT ext Cab but don't want or really can't give up any of my backseat space. My backseat is in its up position 95% of the time. Any sugestions on amp choice and mounting would be great. Oh I might add a sub someday if I can afford one and can find the room for it.              Thanks Big Bert

They sound much better than stock, especially if youve got a more powerful aftermarket Head Unit powering them.

Personally im going to at least run the fronts off an amp for now, till i can get a 4way to run all 4.

Both JL Audio and MTX make boxes for under our rear seats, but you will lose room of course.

I currently have my XM reciever mounted far right, drivers side, under my rear seat, up on the hump agains the back wall.

My amp will probabaly be mounted against the back wall, not sure yet.

The way I determined polarity with the speakers is...

Once I disconnected the speaker, I took a D-cell battery and two small lengths of wire.  I attached the positive lead of the battery(D-cell) to one terminal on the speaker and the negative lead to the other terminal.  If the speaker cone moves OUT, you have the positive battery lead connected to the positive terminal of the speaker.  If you reverse the battery, the speaker cone will pull in, towards the magnet.

With my truck, I checked each speaker, each A terminal was positive, and each B terminal was negative.  If you would like to confirm this with your truck, try the battery trick.

They could change connectors from year to year.
