Extang Full Tilt Hinge

I recently purchased and installed an Extang Full Tilt tool box cover. Great cover, it came with three bows but only 2 places to place them, that was an odd one to me, I just left the other bow in my house.

Anyways, the hinge on this cover seems to collect a lot of dirt. I cleaned the entire hinge area before installation. A couple of days later I noticed that the hinge seemed to be crunching on some dirt. I took the cover off, cleaned the hinge, then used some dry wax lube. A couple days later, same thing happened.

Anyone know of anything to do to keep the dirt out of the hinge. Since the hinge is open on the top, the dirt can easily find it's way back in. Before anyone starts in with "silicone it off and don't open it" or any of that, I'm going to just say don't respond if that's your idea. Any real ideas would be helpful.

Same here,I've had three of them,no issues with any of mine.

Now when I take mine off every once-in-awhile to haul something it does have a very light coating of dust/dirt in it,but no issues with it,I just wipe the dust/dirt out before I re-install it.

Maybe I'm just making a bigger issue of it. I don't see a lot, but I hear it when I open and close the cover. Maybe I'll try a different lube.
