Mounting Amp Behind Seat?

I am thinking of mounting my amp on the back wall of the cab behind the rear seat. Will it get too hot in this location?

Thats where I'm going to mount mine. It is going to be tight though especially when the seat is in its up position which mine is almost all the time. I'm having it installed next Sat.

have had no problems with my autotek. pushing it hard for hours on end. if you have a good amp it shouldnt be getting that hot in the first place. plus its really not that tight of a fit unless you have some insanely huge monster of a amp.

This would be an ideal location for amp mounting.  Can you mount the amp directly to the carpeting or maybe sandwich a piece of plexiglass between the amp and carpet?  I assume self tapping sheet metal screws would be in order?  I would hate to drill through the cab!!!  :0

I have my amps mounted to a plywood board, covered in material similar to the cloth seats, just different color.  

 

The board is the exact width of the back of the cab, and stays in place nicely.  The lower area behind the seat is quite roomy, and the amps don't overheat.  

 

Oh, read the owner's manual, they usually specify a way to mount the amps vertically for optimum cooling.  Or in english, which side mounts up.

I have a 600 watt Kenwood amp mounted behind the back seat and the amp gets very hot when its pushed. But I've had it there for over a year and it has not melted anything and works fine.  My amp always got real hot in the trunk if my car so i wanted to mount it out of the way in the truck so if anyone sits in the back seat they whould not get burned.  My amp will shut off it it gets extremely hot.. I hasn't shut off in the truck yet.  You should be fine mounting it there.
