Cold Start Exhaust Smoke

I have 3,500 miles on my 2009 5.3l AFM motor. The Factory Oil and filter was changed out to Mobil I Extended Guard 5/30 at 2,500 Miles. Just look at this startup smoke! Happens Everytime the Truck has sat for a few or more hours.

This is really embarrassing. Doesn't happen when motor is hot and driving on the road. Oil seeping intothe cylinders somehow - valves, lifters, ????

It's Going back to the dealer on Friday! Sure wish I had that 60 day RETURN guarantee!!!

Something definatly not right with that.Looks like seepage thru the valve guides but thats alot of smoke for that.I say back to the dealer and ask them if they would settle for a 2 stroke chevy V8

No it doesn't look healthy at all. My old 2 stroke Kawasaki's didn't even puff smoke like this until you really got into it full throttle! I'm 53 and have driven the truck gently since new. Mostly hiway miles. Hopefully the dealer won't call this normal oil consumption... ha ha... It would go back if I had the 60 day guarantee. I took the $500 dollars instead. Stupid!!!!

Yep, that definately looks related to the TSB my dealer mentioned for bad lifters. The primary symptom is smoke out of the tail pipe in the morning. Take it in. They might want to keep it overnight and see it for themselves. But there is no way they can tell you that is "normal." Especially if they take the time to look through open TSB's for these trucks.

Mine wasn't smoking yet, just throwing out oil from the tail pipe. New lifters fixed it. No issues since then.
