Clunk Noise

So today i started to hear a clunk noise when i put my truck in to drive/ reverse. Im in IL and its 5 degrees out and all but I've had my truck in the cold before so it weird to me now... I ran in to a guy over the summer and he was replacing the barrings in his reared of his GMC (03, same as mine) with the same amount of miles...Im wondering if its that or something else.... About 4 months ago i had my U-joints replaced( cracked one, and just had both done for a C.M.A).. Any input???

you on an incline? it will clunk cause of the park cog that locks the tranny when in park. reverse always seems to engage with a little shudder on all gm cars/trucks. is it in 4wd? maybe the front u joints are bad? just shootin ideas...

I have an '07 NBS that started clunking between reverse and drive recently. It gets worse as the vehicle warms up, and it happens on level ground. It's noticeable when shifting from drive to reverse, and quite a bit louder when shifting from reverse to drive. Dealer said it was normal. They greased the slip yoke but that had zero effect. Anyone know how to fix this?

Topic may be dead but oh well, I have had 4 silverado 4 wheel drives and learned that some wierd noises occur(including some clunking). Some things are more noticable than others, but I don't think it should be happening every time. I'd check things out of course and keep an eye on it just to make sure, but I honestly don't stress hearing noises anymore...:/ it's kinda wierd but it's a familiar thing. I actually used to hear a strange zapping noise that would happen when right after I put my old 05 silverado in reverse. The best way to describe it was like the ignitor on a grill being pressed back to back like 5 times... Or like a tazer...:/ never knew what the hell it was though
