Does anyone have the NNBS Silverado T-Rex mesh grill package, or any other mesh grills, top bottom and airdam (09+)?? Pics please! Thanks!

I'm not quite sure what the "T-Rex mesh grille package is". We might know it by a different name up here in The Great White North. Is that a GM option or is it aftermarket?

No not a factory option. Heres a link: http://www.carid.com/images/grilles/t-rex/TRX-54110.jpg

My factory grill is gonna be painted to match the truck. Like the entire chrome surround will be white, emblem is already white, and the chrome bumper part is already colour matched from factory so there wont be so much chrome, like shown in the pic. So what do you guys think of the grill?

For the 2010 model year, the complete Silverado grill and also the lower fascia where the tow hooks are is available body colour matched as part of the new Z71 Plus Package. I'm sure those parts are also available as addons for the '07s - '09s. I believe RyanbabsZ71 has such a truck so if you've seen pictures of his, you know what I'm talking about. They are limited to some of the '10 model year colours such as Taupe Grey Metallic, Sheer Silver Metallic, Black, Black Granite Metallic and Summit White but I'm sure they could easily be painted to other colours. The result is spectacular in other than the tow hooks there is no chrome showing on the front of the truck at all. It makes the front of the Silverado look like it's all one piece instead of a chrome. black and body colour patchwork.

PS: To me, that T-Rex grille addon would look great on a stock chrome Silverado grille as in that photo but I'm not so sure it would look as good on a body colour matched grille.

What about the stock chrome mesh? That would look pretty nice on your white diamond truck.

I am going to paint my grill exactly like that, to match the truck but the inserts are still gonna be black, thats why I want to find some kind of mesh or chrome inserts. Don't like billet, only mesh or factory-look a like inserts.

BTW that grill is $500 from GM and they dont offer it in White Diamond Tri-Coat so i'd be looking at $700+ or - for that same grill for my truck. definitely not worth it.

I see GM has body colour matched grilles for Tahoes, Suburbans and Avalanches as well in White Diamond Tricoat. But I'm not sure if they either fit or can be made to fit a Silverado. The top edge of the grilles isn't the same and there may be other differences.

If you want a body colour matched grill for a Silverado, getting one meant for the Silverado Z71 Plus Package would probably be an better option. If one weren't available in your truck's colour, painting it to match would be too easy. Be aware the colour of the mesh of the stock chrome grille and the Z71 Plus Package grilles might be different though.

Even less expensive still would be to remove your stock grille and have it painted, if that can be done with proper preparation.

Another thing I have seen done is to have an auto trim shop layer it over with a plastic film. If they can do it to an entire vehicle, I'm sure customizing just a grill would be a piece of cake. With the multitude of colours available in automotive grade trim films, I'm sure matching White Diamond Tricoat wouldn't be too difficult. I seem to recall a member of this forum doing that to his truck's chrome bumper bar to get it to match the painted endcaps instead of painting over the chrome plated steel.

There are so many possibilities. It's a matter of finding out which ones will give you the result you're looking for and are also realisticaly feasible to do. And of course, it depends on how much you're willing to spend.

I guess anything is possible if you use a large enough fine adjustment tool. (Sledgehammer)

PS: Isn't the mesh on the stock Silverado grilles already black? I'm looking at a 2010 Silverado brochure and the ones pictured look blacked out to me.

Yeah, the grill on my last silverado was chrome and I had it painted black to match the truck and it turned out great. Didnt cost me much at all. Think im gonna do that with this truck too, just looking for something to go over the factory black mesh (something in chrome) to bring out the front end a little more.

    • The truck is a 1995 Chevrolet S10 Blazer, 4.3 VIN "W" engine. :cracks knuckles:   On a whim - because I needed a headache - this truck was for sale so I stopped to take a look. Doesn't run. Well, it does, but barely. Long crank, choppy idle, bad misfire(s), it REEKS of fuel. I can DO this..I'm thinking. Diamond in the rough. One owner until last year. A young guy is selling it, he bought it 6 months ago. It stranded him more than once, he's got a newborn. It was in the shop 10 days ago and he "thinks" they said it needs a new fuel injection system. He can't put any more money into it, needs it gone. I was thinking of upgrading my Macbook, which is a total want, not a need. For less than the price of a new laptop I can have fun for months tinkering on this truck and enjoying it. I'm taking this truck home. The guy was beyond thrilled, his wife was there, she thanked me profusely, I could tell they were hurting. They seemed like good people in a bind.   Some parts, a wash, maybe a set of tires, and I can have a few months of fun and then turn it for beer money (or the next project).   Sure enough, there's a work order from a shop last week in the INCHES of paperwork on this truck dating back to when the first owner bought it. They put a new distributor in it, fuel injection work describes basically opening the plenum and putting it back together. He said he couldn't afford any more work so he had them button it up and that's when he put it up for sale.   I'm not well versed in 4.3. I did discover 1995 uses the 1992-1995 SCPI "Spider" injector which is riddled with issues from splitting lines, clogged or cracked poppet valves and plastic spider legs that crumble over time. Cool. I'll just order me a ne---. Oh, the auto parts store doesn't have it? Rock Auto doesn't have it. eBay? $$$$$$ for used. These are UNAVAILABLE period end of story unless you know "a guy" who's still got one in a box somewhere.   Can't upgrade to the '96-'04 injector, it's a different plenum, wiring/pinout and sensor config.   There are a few kinda "know a guy" -guy rebuild services for these injectors out there for about $350. Okay, Okay... I'd like to know if anyone has used them? Anyone got a lead on these crappy 92-95 spiders?   I also don't want to send MY spider to Narnia and back without knowing if that's truly the problem. I guess I'll need to pull apart the plenum and do some digging.   I was also thrown for a loop. This 1995 model year truck has an OBD-II connector. The interface is decidedly not OBD-II. I can read and reset trouble codes and view live data, but there's not a lot of data. Like misfire count and on what cylinder, that's not there. It's OBD-1.5.   Nothing is ever easy. Now it makes sense why this guy wanted to disappear this thing for cheap. I'm guessing the shop told him the injector is toast, the part is unobtainable and they're not going to sort sending the thing to a rando offering rebuild service on craigslist, and the kid likely can't be without a working car for 3 weeks even if they'd facilitate that.   Experience with these early SCPI's? Stories? Things to check? Sympathy? (..Nah...)   This can sit until I sort it. But I haven't had a problem with a vehicle I couldn't easily solve in a long time.
