Brake Light Coming On

Hello, I have a 1993 Chevy 1500 and every time I reach 60 KPH the brake light comes on and stays on until I turn the truck off. This has been happening for about 3 months now. A mechanic told me that it was just running tests.

I have never heard of a truck's braking system 'running tests' in my entire live. I may be wrong, but I suspect your mechanic friend doesn't know a brake caliper from his balls.

 

Is it the emergency brake light (the red one) or your abs light that comes on?

Check to make sure you have sufficient brake fluid in the resevior (sp?) and the connections are good on the master cylinder and braking components under the hood. Your next step will be to see if there are any trouble codes in the computer. Could be you have a bad ABS connection or sensor someplace.

Lol don't worry he wasn't a friend and he probably doesn't know anything. Yes it is the brake warning/emergency brake light. There is a separate ABS light that is not coming on. Thanx.

I have checked the fluid and it is full. I cleaned the connectors but still no luck. I suspect bad sensors but i will scan it when i get the chance. Thank you.
