Power Tail Gate Lock

has anybody bought one of these and what do you think?

heres what im after, 2007-2010 GMC Sierra 2500 (NewBody) W/ Factory Keyed Lock

theirs times when i forget to lock it, but if i had this it wouldnt be an issue

pop & lock is one that im looking at.

Hmm....Looks like a good idea,I always wondered why the factory locking tailgate don't lock/unlock with the power door locks.

2. Not everyone would want it to be a power lock. I know I wouldn't.

1 thing i thought of is. if you take your tail gate off often you would need some type of plug for it. i wonder if ya got them hotrod Painless Jamb Tac Wireless Connectors how it would work http://www.streetrodstuff.com/Products/1553/ i dont know if there is room for it, but it would make it a clean install.

i also wonder if you didnt have power (just saying) would you be able to unlock it with the key?

how do you install that? Where do you hook up the wires?

it fits in the tailgate. wires have to be ran to the door or some where with a lock unlock wire

i also wonder if you didnt have power (just saying) would you be able to unlock it with the key?

This would be an issue on the Avalanche's since they all have the power tailgate lock,Thats actually where I had the idea of a power tailgate lock.....from the Avalanche's.

i didnt know they had that. do they come with a keyed lock as well? if they do that would solve the no power problem.

how do you install that? Where do you hook up the wires?

My Dakota from the mid-90's had the 3rd brake light in the tailgate. The wire simply came out the lower corner of the gate near the hinge with a quick disconnect.

My current truck has an ARE Z-Series fiberglass cap with a frameless tailgate window that uses slam latches. The window lock would freeze if any moisture and cold in the air so I got the optional power lock installed. They ran a control harness along the frame rail from the LR bed rail to the cab where it's connected to the factory power lock controller. The window locks/unlocks with the passenger door using the factory fob (1st push locks, 2nd push on unlock). Would love to have this on the tailgate too...GM really missed the boat on this option.
