2000 Denali W/ 350 Cranks, But No Start, 56 Psi Fuel Press

My friends 2000 Denali (152k miles) with the 350 engine will turn over but not start. The fuel pump and filter were replaced a year ago. He bought a fuel pressure tester and has 56 PSI while cranking. He's visiting a friend across state for the holidays and has very limited tools.

He has spark, he pulled off #3 wire and checked, and it's good.

Where does he go from here?

Would fuel pressure reg cause this? Maybe bad distributor? Is there a min oil pressure switch on the distributor?

Thanks in advance!

... you have to suspect the fuel pump

... required pressure for the 350Vortec injectors to work is 61 to 66 psi... some will argue that high 50's is ok but...... only if your gage inaccuracy is that bad

... if you are going for a new fuel pump get a ACDelco from a dealer or a Delphi from NAPA ... these are worth the price difference and are far more reliable that the cheaper Airtex or Carter brands

Sir,

Squirt a bit of gasoline into throttle body. If it tries to run, you will get some info on what is going on.
