Leveling Kit, 1.5" Or 2" ?

Recommended Posts

I have an 08 Sierra 4x4 Ext Cab Z71, trying to decided between an 1.5" or 2" under strut leveling kit. I hardly ever carry anything in the back. Would like to maintain a .5" to .75" front to back wheel well slope. Which size would keep me in that range ? Also, have people had ball joint trouble with the 2" ? Looking for advice, tks !

Measure your truck.

My truck has exactly 2" of rake, so a 2" kit would make it perfectly level. If you want .5-.75" of rake, go with the 1.5" kit IMO.

+1 on measuring your truck first. I have 3" of rake from factory. I am going with 1.5" which will obviously leave 1.5" of rake, but after the 3" BL, it won't be that noticeable anymore.

On my 09 GMC Sierra Z71 4x4, I had ~2-1.2" of rake from the factory.

I installed a CCM 2-1.2" leveling kit, and it sits perfectly level.

I put the Zone 1.5" BL on it, and love the setup.

I would suggest to measure, then make a decision. I went with CCM 2.5", and I'm still about 1/2"+ higher in the back. I have an 08 Blk GMC 1500 2wd crew cab... I went with RBP +10mm 20" wheels, and 275/60/20 Coopers, although it's close to rubbing with the 33" height. I'll post pic's by Wednesday, as my front caps are still off, awaiting alignment. Next tires will be 275/55/20 or 285/50/20 to be safe...

I agree. CCM gives you 2.5" w/ zero rake.

I have an 07 Sierra 2wd crew cab and have been looking at leveling kits. I have a friend who bought the Readylift 2.25" kit and it looked great. After looking at the prices i thought Readylift was a little high, so I called them. The guy at readylift said that any kit over 1.5" that does not come with bottom spacers as well as top spacers will affect ball joint angles, ride quality, and tire wear. He said Readylift has a money back guarantee on their product that it will not affect any of the previously stated. That being said, 200 and some-odd dollars doesn't sound quite as bad. I haven't bought it yet, but i think I'm gonna go with the Readylift 2.25". By the way, does anyone have a 2wd crew cab with the Readylift kit and 265/70/17's? I just wanted to see what my set up will look like.
