Coil Spring Help ?

Recommended Posts

Posted

I have an 03 2wd, I lowered it 3-4 with Bell tech front coils, and rear hanger, and shackel kit.

Due to a tire size change, I need to raise the front a little. Bell tech has a 3/4 coil spring lift spacer, Do you think this would be OK, or should I order 2" drop coils. I have to tear it apart one way, or the other, but there is about a $ 200 price difference.

Any suggestions ?

Thanks

Ok So I ordered a set of BellTech 2" coils

What I got is their new ProCoil 2" or 3" Universal coil spring set.

For $ 175.00 I got another set of 3" coils, and a 1" PLASTIC Lift spacer. They say to use the 3"drop coil, with the 1" plastic lift spacer to obtain a 2" drop.

Seems to me like I just got Screwed over ?

Now I have to worry about this cheap plastic spacer breaking down.

They claim they made the change to save money, by only having to make one size coil spring.

Not much I can do about it today, I guess I could try to order 2" coils from another manufactuer.

That would mean, changing the springs for a Third time, Not a real pleasant job.

Any opinions on these Plastic spacers ?

depends on what kind of "plastic" it is. too many people freak out when they see a non-metallic part but fact is, there are plenty of "composites" out there that will out last steel and aluminum.

thats not to say that the part you got is a quality compostie though.. call them up and ask them what specific material it is and report back. knowing that i can probably give you some closure as to whether it will last or not.

I emailed BellTech to ask about the reliabilty of these new spacers.

No response yet.

From website

Belltech’s new application specific “Spring Distance lift spacers” are manufactured by a specialized injection process. Belltech offers an exclusive spacer system engineered with spring contours to dissipate the spring load evenly over the whole spacer surface. All spacers are designed to lift your vehicle by 1”. This could be used to lift your factory ride height as well to adjust an existing lowering. The ease of installation makes this a great 1” lifting solution!

Spring distance spacers will replace the O.E.M. top isolator.
