just wondering has anyone punched out there cats? are they the bead or waffle cone type and will it throw any codes? i would think it would uncork it some.

No reason to, they are free flowing, yes it will throw codes. If you do this on the 8.1L you will actually hurt performance.

I have a 8.1 with jba headers. so just for kicks ran with headers for the day . it sounder great but i was getting codes and i was passed buy a kid on his bike. the headers made this 8.1 kick but with it all put back together. and cleared the codes. i have done other work to the 8.1

I didn't know they were free flowing.just looking for something to make my 6.0 make some power without breaking the bank. I think my 5.3 with 160,000 will walk all over it.thanks josh

headers and intake and ex. will wake up a 6.0 . but that 5.3 is fast.

The 6.0L in your HD makes more torque and horsepower then most 5.3L engines but the extra wieght of the 3/4 ton combined with the 4l80s' 1st gear disadvantage over the 5.3L's 4l60 trans

I have had several 3/4 ton 6.0L's and a few 1/2 ton 5.3L's and the 1/2 ton truck is always quicker.

well when I mash the throttle in my 5.3 it will come around sideways and the smoke rolls.when i mash it in the2500hd it reminds me of a 1986 305 running on 7 cylinders.the only smoke that rolls in from the bell housing
