Love the how to on this. Just curious what would happen if you tapped into this wire instead of cutting it totallly....would you still have the ability to turn on the light with the interior light knob as well as your new switch? And has anyone figured how to rig this so the cargo lamps come on upon unlock and door open?

Bringing this back from the dead.... I'm curious if anyone has figured out how to have the cargo lamp illuminate with door lock/unlock - approach lighting?

Thanks!

Just tap into the reverse circuit at the Junction box under the dash. At least that's what I did, sorta. I repurposed my snow plow beacon switch as a cargo light switch, and later tapped it into the the reverse circuit so I can turn on the the cargo lights and reverse lights on with the switch. I diode isolated the reverse from the cargo so that the cargo doesn't come on in reverse (I don't know why). If you just spliced it, whenever the cargo lights are on, the reverse will be on and vice-versa. I hope this all makes sense.
