99 Silverado Tech2 Porblems

My dad and I chipped some money together to buy a GM Tech2 scan tool, we have 9 GM vehicles at the house so we figured it woul be a good investment. We hooked it up to my 1999 NBS Silverado Z71 and it seems like the Tech2 is recognizing the truck as the old body style. It wont let me go in and mess with the HVAC actuators, It will let me test the alarm chime, door locks, and gauges but it won"t let me calibrate the new heater blend door actuator I just installed. Any help would be appreciated

Thanks, Dan

go to a dealer at lunch to see if a tech can help ya ,you may have built the truck menu wrong in the scanner ,that yr has both body styles so either check again or go see a tech

Ok I'll try, When I go in the tech2 and change the model year from 1999 to 2000 it shows alot more options to choose from like the hvac actuators etc. But it wont let me use it because the tech2 knows the truck is not a 2000 model year. Yeah I knew they changed body styles in 99 so i'm pretty sure this is why I can't get it to work. It also shows no codes in the BCM

Well, I looked through some wiring diagrams on the 99 silverado and apparently this is a "bastard year" truck. I guess the hvac controls and actuators do not go through the Body Control Module like the newer year silverados do. The blend door actuator gets power from the fuse box and it gets a 5v signal from the hvac control module. So I'm going to test the hvac control module to see if it's any good. I guess this is why I can't access the hvac actuators from the tech2
