I have a 2007 silverado 1500 with close to 70k on it. I have been having a issue with the truck not starting because the battery is dead. the first time it happened i replaced the battery. But now it has started happening again but alot more often. If i jump start the truck everything is fine for a few days. then it gets hard to start for a few days and eventually it will have to be jumped again. It has gotten so bad that i keep a fully charged booster box in the truck at all times. could this be the voltage regulator/altenator or is something draining the battery.

Thanks for any help.

i spoke with the dealer and they said that reprogramming was done before i took delivery of the vehicle. they say some else must be draining the battery. they want me to leave it with them for the day. GREAT i wonder how much this is gonna cost me? i just don't think it could be something draining the battery because sometimes the truck sits for a week and starts right up. but sometimes won't start after being off for 30 minutes.

I'd go to a different dealership to get their opinion on the matter... They may THINK they re-programmed the truck, but how do you know for sure they did it?

Thats how i feel. When they reprogram is it automatically updated in gm's service history of the truck or do they have to manually enter the service history? If so how do i know if they really did the reprogram or did the original deal just tell gm that they reprogrammed their inventory.

I'm not sure on this. Because it was not really a "Recall" or "Campaign" the dealer likely did not put any type of sticker under the hood indicating the work was done. It is possible the alternator was screwed up from a discharged battery enough times that it will sometimes charge and sometimes not charge. I'd take it someplace to have the alternator/charging system looked at for free (Autozone) then run it to another dealer and ask them
