Help Please

Hey fellas. Just put in the vette servo. Everything went fine. Now im wrestling with the cover retaining ring. Im sure i have everything together inside fine, but this thing will not snap into place. You compress the cover into the trans and reinstall the ring right? Ive been doing this for the past hour and still cannot get it to snap in. It doesnt seem there is a ridge to hold the ring in and it keeps popping out. Am i doing this right? Any help would be appreciated.

How did you get the heat shield off?

try jamming an appropriate length stick from the ground to the cover to hold it in place. Ring just has to fit.

took off the heat shield (2 10mm bolts). Got the appropriate sized stick and all that, just cannot get the ring on. I dont know.

Hopefully you have it done by now, but if you use a flashlight, you can see the groove where the ring goes once the cover is pushed in far enough. If you can't see that groove, then you may have something inside not installed properly.

FINALLY! I did eventually get it. The cover would go in that extra 1/8" that i needed if i pushed the hell out of it. I just kept messin with it with the cover o ring off. Pushin pullin twistin. Thanks all for the responses and a big thanks for this excellent forum. The new servo thing is very nice. I love my truck again.
