Installed 2 Inch Drop Shackles And Removed Rear Blocks

Recommended Posts

Finally installed my Belltech 2 inch drop shackles and removed the rear lift blocks. The truck went down about three inches in the rear, it is finally leveled. I'm thinking about dropping the front 3 inches and the rear 2 more inches. Here are some pics..sorry about the quality took the pics from the cell phone. It is finally level, looks way better than stock.

is your truck 2 or 4 wheel drive? I have plans on doing something similar with my truck. looks nice, and I agree that the leveled stance is much more appealing. big thumbs up

Looks good. I have the drop shackles installed also but have been hesitant to take the rear blocks out. I haven't seen pictures of a crew cab to see if a 3" drop will be lower in the back than the front. Wouldn't that be called a cali lean?

Did installing these shackles and removing the blocks change the ride noticeably?

I'm interested in installing a set of these myself, but really don't want the ride to suffer. 20-inch wheels with 275/55's are going on next week, which will already affect the ride, so I don't need this kindof mod to multiply the problem.

My truck is 2 wheel drive, I live in Southern Cali in the city so 4 wheel drive wasn't necessary.

On my extended cab standard bed installing the belltech shackles and removing the rear lift blocks made my truck completely level. Is your truck level with the shackles?

My truck rides the same with belltech shackles and the rear blocks removed, the ride didn't change at all which is a plus.

Thanks for that info - I'm really glad to hear that the ride is unaffected.

I have the Belltech shackles on order from StylinTrucks right now! :puke:

Cool, you will be happy with how the truck looks after you install the shackles. You going to remove the rear lift blocks also?

Initially, I'll probably leave the blocks alone . . .

I don't mind if the rear is still about 1/3rd of an inch higher then the front, and have NO desire to end up with ANY Cali lean on this brand-new truck. Block removal is always an option later if it's really needed on this particular 2WD Crew Cab (since the Belltech shackle kit comes with U-bolt spacers).

Also, since I plan to tow my Porsche Carrera S on an open trailer to roadrace tracks several time a year, I don't want to take this lowering idea too far, or to be forced to add airbags or extra leafsprings to compensate for my (vain) desire for a lowered appearance.

My inspiration is from the following thread from Forum Member 66Nova of his near-identical white CCSB. Without removing his blocks, you can tell that the rear is still just a smidge higher then the front, but it's almost unnoticeable and has a nice, beefy stance running on the factory 20-inch wheels.

thats an awesome truck... im personally not a fan of lowered trucks but that actually does look better... imo those are GM's best stock rims

I agree, i like mine also but if I ever find those for a good price I will snap them up.

Got a part number or link for the bell tech kit that was used? What was the price for it? My truck needs it done. THinking about keeping blocks at first to see how it goes.

Here is the link for the Belltech Drop Shackles, they are $66.95. This kit is good it comes with spacers if you want to remove the rear lift blocks, so you can reuse the stock u-bolts.
