Which Intake To Use

Anyone hear of the Vararam Tripower intake?

 

Needing some help in choosing which way to go.

Don't do it with the Vararam, it looks like something you can put together with some old dryer parts you have out in the garage.

In all honesty, I have a K&N 63 series CAI set up, but after reading all the reviews. and if you ask "Jennabear" they recommend, just adding in a high flow drop in and new Intake tube. The old intake tube has several chambers that reduce noise but divert air flow. After Market GM CAI are just as good but pricey, hope this helps

I would go with the 57 series K/N CAI or AEM brute force on GM vehicles they are pretty much built the same. I personally like K/N better the prices are pretty much the same now. Hope this helps

What tube can be used with the stock airbox? What drop-in filters are available? I was searching for an AEM dryflow, which i did find for Classic body style 5.3 but not for NBS.

I have the GMPP (GM Performance Parts) intake, and it's sweet! Build quality is superb, and it makes a nice sound when under hard acceleration!

Airaid makes the intake tubes, just about any drop in filter would be fine. You can use the search feature at the bottom of the page and pull up dozens of articles about this to help with some ideas.

I can't say for sure, cause I don't have one, but the Vararam does look cheap.

 

I just ordered a Volant CAI, so if you give me about a week I can give you feed back on it

 

 

Many people just install a stream line tube from air raid and add an aftermarket performance filter.

I have the GMPP CAI and have no complaints. It looks nice under the hood and gives a little noise. Performance benefits? Not noticeable if any. Worth the cost to me? Yes. I bought it mostly for appearance.

,,, based on any discussions I have had with a number of people... the consensus that I have received is that the only thing a Cold Air Intake (CAI) is good for is to lighten your wallet.

I'm interested to see how different the truck feels after you install the Volant CAI.

Let us know if you feel a power increase or an increase in MPG or if you have any problems.

I just ordered one for my 1998 Chevy K1500 Silverado, but I won't be putting it in until the weather warms up.

That's the Cold Air Intake that I have, it is louder than the stock intake and looks way better.

well this post has pretty much convinced me to buy the airaid MIT.. is there anything simliar that is cheaper.. or a different brand? i would like to get a k&n if there is a k&n MIT equivalent.
