Lift And Tire Size Observations...

Ok, I have an 08 Avalanche z71: stock 18's with 265/65 Bridgestone Duelers. I recently leveled it only to find that it doesn't look like I can fit any bigger tire than the stock one. I was hoping for a 305/50/20. So from what I've gathered, I do need an additional 3" lift.

 

Now, I've never had an actual lift before. What are some pros and cons of suspension vs. body lifts other than cost? Also if anyone knows if I can, in fact, fit a good, aggressive looking tire without an addition lift or trimming, let me know what size because it doesn't look like I can. I want either nitto terras or tails.

With just a leveling kit in it there is no way with out trimming alot that you can put 305s on there even with stock wheels. Biggest I have been able to put on one here(4 wheel parts) is 285s on aftermarket wheels.

Thanks. I don't think the nitto trail grappler comes in anything that small for a 20"

I just put on LT275/65/18 Toyo ATs on my non leveled 07 Z71 Tahoe and had to do some plastic trimming but I'm running 18x9 wheels with 5 in backspacing. It looks like the same amount of trimming would have been needed if it was leveled.

They make a 295/55/20 that might fit on a leveled truck but you will have to trim the fenders/wells.

Here are some Goodyear Duratracs (275/65/18) on stock 18" Z71 rims w/Bilstein 5100 front leveling shocks.
