Best Quiet Muffler For My 04 4.8

i have a 04 chevrolet extended cab with a 4.8. I have already put a superchips programmer and cold air intake on my truck but want to upgrade my exhaust without aggrivating my wife because we take all our trips in my truck. Magnaflow claims with their 5 x 8 x 18 muffler its a little louder than stock but not noticable when cruising which works for me and claim a 20hp gain and 20 ft lbs of torque on a 5.3. Does that apply to the 4.8 or do they have another muffler out there that will get me the same or more while keeping the noise down? Thanks for all your comments.

I don't know about Magnaflow but if you decide to go with Flowmaster, DO NOT get the "Super 40". That one is pretty loud, both outside and inside the cab.

I agree with amtz.zero! I have the 40 series coming out dual behind rear tires. Definitely not conducive to a woman with a sensitive ear!

I have Flowmaster 50 series delta w/ dual out and there is stillalot of drone... The Magnaflow is an insulated muffller and staright threw that gives a good souns with not alot of drone.... Flowmaster is a oval non insulated and the drone gets inside, unless you up size to a 70 series

i beg to differ, ive had magnaflow mufflers on a few different trucks now, i LOVE the sound they produce. i think its the best/toughest sounding muffler out there. nice and throaty...they arent very loud. but all of the ones ive had are kinda crappy for resonance or "drone" on the highway. i was told becuase they use fibre baffling inside. but they sound really nice, i have a 6 month old daughter and wifey HATES loud trucks (i think its because i ran straight pipe a couple times LOL  ) and it doesnt wake up my girl or piss the wife off so it cant be that bad. you could get Corsa exhaust, zero drone cuz they use steel baffling...somebody chime in and correct me but i think im right. the corsa touring has no drone, i dont like the sound they make but you might. and they are realm quiet in cab...BUT you will pay out the A$$ for a corsa system. magnaflow cat backs are like 1/2 the price dude...if you want quiet get magnaflow or corsa. DONT get flowmaster...wake the neighbours and it will rot out in a year...

I ran Corsa on my Camaro SS for a few years until the muffler broke apart inside and began rattling horribly. After that I welded inplace a Hooker Aerochamber muffler. I loved the sound and was very impressed with every aspect of the sound quality. After coming from Corsa with no drone I expected some from the Hooker, but was pleasantly suprised how quiet inside the car was and the lack of drone or resonance. This was also with longtubes, catted Y and heads and cam setup. I would not hesitate to run the Hooker Aerochamber again. It also flows great too boot. I ran a QTP electric cutout in the I pipe for the track and there was no difference other than noise in power vs thru the muffler.
