Installing A Cam

I want to change the cam on my truck, so it will give it the muscle car/built sound, and to gain a couple of ponies. I have a 305 5.0 TBI engine. Whats the best cam for my situation, I still want to srive it on the road. Can I just change the cam with out changing the springs or anything? What is the average price to change one out? Thanks a lot!

I recall some guys using LT1 cams in the LO3 motors...that and some roller rockers might make you happy...you'll need some programming to optimize the setup also.

I put a crane cam in my '89 Formula and a few other things...shorty headers,bigger throttle body injection,...negelected the programming and was not very impressed...but it did sound pretty good.

Got the cam from Summit....think it was around $260 at the time...plus top end gaskets and timing cover gaskets.
