Okay, the "service engine soon" light came on 2 days ago...today im going to be driving 60-70 miles..its not going to hurt it for me to be driving it, will it? Or should take my beater Dodge Ram instead

The guy at Autozone told me that have a vacuum leak, so what should i start checking/replacing?

vacuum leak is possible.. had one on the blazer throwing PO141 a while back.. it was on a brake breather line or something coming from master cylinder.. just check all the tubing in the engine compartment for cracks.

maybe check your MAF sensor and clean it as well.

plenty of other stuff but no time to help i'll check back in on ya when i get home from work.

Vacuum leak is probably spot on. I'd start with the PCV hose between valve cover and intake. The vacuum leak needs to be allowing air into the motor AFTER the MAF for this code to set.

PCV hose is good...not limp, it sucks air ok. Uh any other possiblities?

I took apart the intake box and its ok...the guy at Autozone said to try that. Im stumped and i dislike taking it to a mechanic when i can just replace something simple like a hose. I get charged  80$ an hour for labor from my mechanic(but i know he does good work)

Anyways, if i cant figure this out tonight Ill take it to the shop tomorrow because i need the intake manifold gasket replaced and i think that's a little much for me to do

I had issues with the intake tube that connects the throttle body to the MAF popped off the throttle body, tossing the code.

If that's good, best bet would be to hook up an OBDII reader that can show you the O2 sensors in real time. They should oscillate of they are ok. You could have a bad O2 sensor that is stuck lean.

Is it possible that the intake manifold gasket IS the source of your vaccuum leak?

Leaking intake gasket would give the leak and probably the cause of your problems.

Ok, i took it to the mechanic this morning and the light went out on the way there so the mechanic said he'd go through the trucks memory and figure it out...i told him the code anyway.

Yeah, that sounds like its the cause of my issues, thanks a lot

Ok, results from mechanic Parts and Labor:

(about to go to work so its kind of a listing and i couldnt scan the bill itself)

Parts:

$28.00- 1 Valley Pan Seal

92.54- 1 Intake Manifold Gasket

25.55- 1 Valve Cover Gasket

4.00- 1 PCV-Valve

5.96- 2 Knock Sensor Grommets

7.98- 4 Water Pipe Seals

22.40-1 Knock Sensor WirePigtail

Labor:

4.50 hours at $80/hr = $360.00

So a grand total of $612.62

and there were a few "shop charges" like disposal, a standard "shop fee" and sales tax but i think i got the math correct

I do feel like i got charged an arm for the labor but thats mechanics for you :sigh:
