Brake Discs / Pads Advice

Hey guys,

Im replacing my front discs and pads on my well worn out (junk) factory ones on my 2005 Sierra 1500 Crew Z71.

I have had poor brake rotor issues with EVERY GM truck I have owner (except my '85). They always seem to wear out prematurely and groove or rot out! I currently have 65,000 Kms (40,000 mi) on my truck and have serviced the brakes once already - I regret having the factory rotors turned and not replaced because they were grooved at that time.

I dont want GM discs back on it - same garbage I already have.

What does everyone else use when replacing their front discs and pads?

Performance - wise do I have some other options to throw on there and improve my braking?

A search didnt reveal much....

TIA

Power slots and hawk ceramic pads. :D

Won't break the bank and will give you a little extra stopping power.

What's the trick to getting that torsion spring out of the rear shoes found on these new models nowadays? That thing is pretty stout!

Was much easier when they used multiple smaller springs ... I was surprised to see that back there!

My truck went back to the dealer 4 separate times for pulsating brakes. The problem always came back. Pretty weak rotors & drums on the new ones ...

I Have NEVER paid anyone to do my brakes either ! I would second the EBC brakes and would also say as long as you don't buy the cheapest like go with a mid to upper you'd be alright, but I also shop at Oreilly's and I don't know what your parts houses are like.

do not go cheap, i made that mistake on my rear pads and they wear 4x faster then my front ac delco pads
