Ls7 In Tahoe?

Would an LS7 engine fit into a Tahoe?

Besides the obvious difference in fuel consumption, what are some of the pros and cons of an engine like that compared with the Yukon Denali stock 6.2L engine?

LS7 has a dry sump oil system, other than that...the engines are basically the same...aside from the obvious titanium parts and pieces to help in the higher revs.

If I get the LS7, will I be able to maintain a similar level of muffler noise as the stock without sacrificing too much horsepower/torque, or is the whole setup going to sound like this and

?

I want it to be as quiet as practically possible. I don't want the truck to draw any attention, neither from would-be thieves nor the police.

God no...it will be much quieter than that with an actual muffler...not a "Muffler" Best bet is to get a walker quiet flow 3"in and out and pipe everything 3" from the crossover back. You will still be a little louder than the stock 6.2L just from the shear volume of air pushed out by the 7.0L more displacement means more air out the exhaust...more means usually louder. 3" pipe will lower the tone of the exhaust, and hopefully the walker should keep things quiet...if not just add a resonator after the muffler.

My only question is Why do you want to replace the 6.2 with the 7.0?? I mean for less cash you can supercharge or turbo the 6.2 and have just as much or more power than the 7.0 has stock...some tweaks and you can be pushing a shit load of power out of the 6.2.

Secondly....if you don't care about the cash...why use the wimpy 7.0L when the 6.2L supercharged LS9 from the new ZR-1 has so much more balls.

Are the 6.2L Super/Turbocharged available as crate engines, plug and play?

Are you referring to the (6.2L) LS376/515 by any chance?

What can I expect in terms of gas consumption in that case?

PS: I'm on a budget. If I can, keeping the engine at around $7,000 (used) would be preferable.

No no...the LS9...its the stock engine in the new vette ZR-1

If the budget is around 7000 bucks and you have a 6.2L now, I would have a chat with Jenna Bear (BlackBear Performance) and ask her for a price on a Magnacharger S/C for your 6.2L you have now. Way more bang for your buck than swapping over to a crate engine.

An LS7 is about 15G new and used is about 10-12G....plus its not easy to find one...not every day a vette gets written off. Plus like BrockwayMT said...the LS7 torque curve will be way out of whack for a heavy SUV....you'll kill your fuel economy by having to keep the RPM up to keep it in its power band.
