Code P1416

Can some one tell me what to look for with a P1416 code?? I know its Air System Bank 2 but thats about it. Any help would be great.

I'm working on the same code (P1416). My first thought was "damn I gotta dish out $88 for a new pump". Hold your hourses, after doing some troubleshooting and research I found out that the pump is controlled by the onboard computer and will not run all the time. I have no idea what parameters need to be met in order for the pump to be running but I do know if you let your engine cool for about an hour then start it, the pump should be running on initail start. Here is how you tell, disconnect the one hose that is connected to the shutoff valve, start the engine run back to the pump and feel for air outputting the pump or just feel the pump running (kidda hard to tell) and if so, this tells me my pump and electrical is fine. I believe the vaccuum valve/solendoid controls the air flow which could be a possible problem (not sure yet) can't find the damn thing at Autozone. You also have the check valve's just before the manifolds (two, one on each side of the engine). There is a relay that provides 12VDC to the pump, well that works if the pump came on. So two possible problems, vaccuum valve/solendoid and check valves but only if the above senerio applies to you.

 

If anybody disagrees with me, please feel free to school on this. I'm a Flight Simulator Tech and by no means a mechanic. This is only what I've discovered for myself. My Service Engine Soon light is still on so I could use some advise on this as well.

Napper's problem ended up being the check valve or valves. Napper's being another user on this forum.
