OK.....I'll try to make some sense here...blood's boilin' a bit.

I've had an aftermarket stereo on my truck for well over a year....all's good....

today i installed an aftermarket bluetooth module to that same stereo.....undid battery beforehand, only touched stereo wire harness (outside of the truck at that), everything put back, battery reconnected.

NOW SHE'S SICK!!! Wont start, makes an awful ticking sound when I turn the key and shows a message that says "service braking system"

WTF??

drove her this morning - no troubles. all electrical components (stereo included) work off the battery in the ACC position on the ignition. I guess the good news is the bluetooth works......yeesh..

HELP!!

Make sure your battery connections are clean & tight. I had something similar happen with a GMC that I swore had tight terminals after disconnecting the ground. They just needed a little tweak & all was well.

yeah clicking sound usually indicates loose/dirty terminals or dead battery.

thanks guys - i'll double check that stuff tomorrow, i ran out of daylite and patience for today.

would the battery explain the "check braking system" message that suddenly appeared?

again, all the electrical stuff was working (key in ACC position) - stereo, lights, even the new bluetooth interface before i tried to turn her over....I'm stumped by this one

Turned out to be a dead battery......whew.

I was afraid that in tinkering with the stereo that I had managed to fry something.....and in the heat of the moment I didnt think battery. Probably got lucky that it happened, i may have soon died in a parking lot somewhere.

Thanks to those who responded.
