Silverado 2010 Idle

Anyone tell me why the idle is so low for these vehicles? is it because of the gas prices, so they are running them to the wire to get the gas mileage? Mine idles about at 500rpm, is that typical for the 5.3l in 2009 or 2010?

I would think so. My 2003 idles at 600 rpm's if its warm outside. Its still cold enough here in the mornings it idles higher for a few seconds before if falls down to normal idling rpms. And yes i would believe it to be that way so they do not burn much fuel idling. Turning your air on though will probably make it idle higher.

my 5.3 idles at 500 also...its an 04 stop worrieing and enjoy your truck, it idles low because its a v8 it dosen't have to work as hard to keep going, where as a 4 banger has to work harder so it idles higher....
