Quadrasteer Rear Diff Oil Change

So ordered up the oil for my 04 Sierra 2500 quadrasteer (yes, got the stuff needed for the quadrasteer from AMSOIL) and crawled under my truck to change it out and greeted by the oddities that is the quadrasteer. The quadrasteer components seem to block taking the diff cover off (at least easily), so is it customary to just drain and refill on quadrasteer or is it just supposed to be that much more work to do it?

Also noticed this odd hose coming out near the top of the diff cover that went over to fuel fill door. It doesnt seem to go through to the outside and is just hanging there. What exactly is this hose for?

That is a vent hose for the differential. The send the vent hose along the same path as the fuel for some reason. You may want to check that vent at the end of the hose and make sure it looks clean and take it off and clean it. Do you drive on dirt roads?

Thats what I figured it was... no gravel roads and underside is pretty clean.

Any idea about dropping the diff cover with all the quadrasteer components in the way?

I'm not familiar with those quadra steer rear ends. I would imagine it's not any more complicated than a front diff to service.
