Borla Exhaust

My Flowmaster kit after 9 years died today pipe at the muffler rotted threw.

 

Does any body have the Borla Exhaust 14824 on their truck? Or similar exhaust???

 

Basically, my flowmaster kit was VERY quite at cruising speed. Wondering about the borla system. I don't want loud. Just some deep mellow tones upon throttling, with light rumble the rest of the time.

May want to look at Corsa as well. I have the Touring version that sounds similar to what you are looking for, and zero drone on the highway.

I've been trying to find a good exhaust for 05 5.3L that is both cheap and you can hear it, but its not over powering. Any suggestions?

Alrighty...i will try to get a vid up sometime but i work both jobs tomorrow lol. I have a v-force and its really nice!(5.3l '99 gmc) It sounds great on WOT and is good whenever you gas it. I have 3 inch piping...single inlet dual outlet...piping affects the sound

 

Another good one is gibbs...gibson? im not sure of the name but its something like that.

 

btw i also have a first gen dodge ram and it has flowmaster 40-series and it is a HUGELY loud exhaust, up there with my neighbors harley...5.2l v8 bone stock with 2.5 inch piping and 3 foot long 3 inch diameter chrome tips... i have no idea why its so loud haha; it looks awesome. I think it suits the truck, i mean, the truck is unkillable...as it has functioned as both my older brother's and my first vehicle its been through a lot. Now it has an easy life as The Hauler lol

 

i think i will go try to make a vid with my phone and see if the sound is good.

 

edit: haha talk about terrible sound quality...my poor phone wont cut it. Maybe i can get my friend to come over with his flip sometime

ok well...here is a ytube vid that sounds like my truck at idle but not exactly like my truck when it revs...mine revs lower and not quite as loud...then again, these vids dont really sound exactly like the exhaust

I just installed a borla system on my 2008 Sierra 4.8. It's nice and quiet at idle and cruising speeds but gets a nice deep rumble when giving it gas.

 

I went from 14.6 MPG to 15.1 on the DIC and I drive it harder than before. Also has alot more pep to it.

I bought a Borla 14824. Hopefully it comes in this week, so Saturday I can put it on....

 

I will post up a install & youtube after.

OK here it is..... Before and after.....

 

I didn't youtube the rotted exhaust. I need record the borla system and post it up on youtube..

 

Here is some pictures.. Saturday morning. 8am till noon..... The cat back part took me about 1 hour. I had a stripped stud on the left manifold to pipe connection... While I had the rest of the exhaust off I fixed it and put some new gaskets on...

will be 2 post...... I laid out the exhaust before I got started (before I had the truck on the lift).... I noticed somebody had been in the box before it shipped out to me..... I did not want to get down to the tips or something and go WTF where's that band clamp or hanger........ Kinda looks cool laying down on the floor.....

 

EDIT: IF anybody knows how tight I should torque the bolts on the trailer hitch let me know back.... I had to remove one bolt........ My IR Thunder gun on a 1/2inch hose had some issues removing the bolt..... It was a 10.9 bolt sooooo I figured 325ft lbs....... I did not torque it yet thou..... Who knows I might have used red locktite when I put it in (but I did not see any locktite in the treads).................. the day after I bought the truck... I could not find the papers on the hitch.

I like it....... Idle it is just a little rumble....... Cruising around 60-65mph it levels out...... -60 & 70+ it gets loud... Higher in the rpm band above 1800 it gains extra noise.

I had the Borla on my S10 Blazer, and loved it- and have one on my LS1 Camaro that is adjustable. I would guess they make a quality unit- sure pay for it, though! Stainless FTW!
