2002 4.8 Misfire On Cyl 7

I had the service engine light flash at me a couple times over the last couple days. Diag said misfire on cyl 7.

 

Service light flashed then stayed on for an hour and has now turned off.

 

What process should I follow after checking the plug wires and coil?

Swap the coils and see if the misfire moves...if it does thats the problem...same with plug wires.

than you will change out the plugs

Always remember..there are 3 items needed to run a 4-stroke engine...

 

spark, fuel, compression

 

Swap coils. see where the misfire goes

 

check plug, gap if necessary

 

swap injector to different cylinder if you have to

 

if all else fails, do a compression test.

Thanks guys will do the swapping. Anything to the light coming for a time then shutting off? We are talking days without a light, then stays on for a half day then off again.
