Aux Transmission Cooler

Is the transmission oil cooler on the duramax bigger than the 6.0? On my 6.0 2500, it seems smaller than what I had on my Ford 1/2 ton. How reliable is the factory cooler for longevity on the 6L90?

Infinitely better than nothing, but nothing compared to a Tru-Cool 40K GVW (p/n 4739 or 47391 depending on what climate you live in).

The factory cooler is barely enough IMO. It will not cool the tranny enough if towing a decent load. Scrap the factory aux. cooler and get a B&M Super Cooler. Being you have a 2500 get a GVW minimum of 20K for cooler rating. It will only help your transmission. Automatics and HEAT are a dealy combo. Hope that helps
