Extand Solid Fold Vs. Bakflip

OK SO HAVE BEEN DOING A LOT OF RESEARCH ON BOTH COVERS NOT REALLY SURE WHAT ONE TO CHOOSE. BOTH ARE ABOUT THE SAME PRICE. MY REAL CONCERN IS HOW WWATER TIGHT THEY ARE. I HAVE A 2009 CREW CAB 1500 WITH BED RAILS. WOULD LOVE THE GOOD BAD AND UGLY ON BOTH FROM PEOPLE THAT HAVE THEM ON THEIR TRUCKS. ALSO I WAS THINKING IF I GO WITH THE BAKFLIP GOING WITH THE HD OR THE NEW F1 ANYWAYS THANKS

I've had the Extang Solid Fold for about a year now. Basically same setup as you:2008 CCSB. Practically water tight.A few drops of water at the tailgate but only in heavy rain, but that's it. Only issue is you can only access 2/3 of the bed without removing it,although it only takes 2 minutes to remove it.All in all, I'm very satisfied with it.

thanks i have one more question, does the cover sit inside the bed rail or on top of them?

Ive had the bakflip g2 for about a year now, no complaints, pretty much water tight and sits extremely low on your bed while still giving you the most room in your bed, Its practically waterproof, minus some minor wet spots when it pours out. Its dry enough where i can keep all my tools in the bed of my truck now. Takes about 10 minutes to install and you can have the cover off in less than 2 minutes, but if your ever loading the bed up all the way and dont want to take it off it just flips up against the back of the cab. Im completely satisfied with it, would reccomoned it.

I have an Extang Solid fold too and love it. So far in 6 months it has been water tight. It sits and seals on top of the bed rails. The short list of why I chose it

 

1) It can be removed / installed in about 3 minutes by yourself, only weighs about 40 pounds. This is important to me as I do many chores on the weekends that require an open bed but the truck is a daily driver and needs to have the be secured

 

2) I didn’t want a bunch of rails or things left behind when it was removed. The Extang requires nothing to be installed on the bed in clamps to the bottom of the bed rail (well almost, if you have the GM cargo management you have to add a little piece for it to clamp to).

 

3) Just didn’t like the look of one piece fiberglass units, if I wanted a trunk I would buy a car.
