Installing A Jl 10w6v2 ?

Hey guys,

 

First post, but I've been reading a lot on what equipment I'll need to install my speakers and subwoofer in my 2009 Sierra.

 

I have a JL 10w6v2 sub that I'd like to install under the rear seats. However, I know it is much too deep to fit in there without raising the seats. My question is--has anyone raised the seats to fit a larger sub under there?

 

I can build a box for it no problem, I'm just worried about the safety factor and making sure it looks factory.

I have a 09 CC that I raised the rear seat on just so the seat wouldn't sit on the top of my box. My 2 10" subs are only 5" deep plus the height of the box downfiring. As for safety I dont know how much the seat mounts are compromised but I only had a 1/2 inch to keep the nuts with all the threads on the studs .The seats still touch the box but doesnt rest on it. I dont think you have enough room to fit that W6 under there.

You're right, I would have to raise it about 3 inches because the mounting depth is about 7". Back to the drawing board I guess. Thanks for replying. What subs are you running?

I used 1/2 blocks under each seat frame footer which are long and wide enough to cover the whole contact patch. As for subs I'm running 2 jl 10w0's in a box I got off ebay.
