Oil Filler Neck

How do you remove the oil filler neck on the 5.3? My cap had a bit of crud on it and i want to take a look see down in there just for curiosity sake.

How do you remove the oil filler neck on the 5.3? My cap had a bit of crud on it and i want to take a look see down in there just for curiosity sake.

 

If memory serves me right... Twist it hard and when it pops its off, slide down to the GM hut and get a replacement..... I think you should pull the valve cover and remove it... Seems like their is a clip on it the bottom side under the valve cover that needs to be depressed.

 

What kind of crud did you have? I always have a brown formation on my cap when I change my oil I wipe it off, while the 6 quarts are draining from the bottles.... Around the same time I am wiping the dipstick clean...
